BUTTERRISK

Butterkist

INSIGHT:

People smuggle food into cinemas, despite the risk of being kicked out. They only sneak in things which they love.

Things worth the risk.

And Butterkist?

Well, that’s the original contraband.

BIG IDEA:

Butterkist.

The popcorn worth smuggling. The popcorn worth the risk.

WHY HELLO THERE! RECOGNISE US?

Giving you a little helping hand. Wait, does that make us an accomplice?

CINEMA COMMERCIAL

Main Detective [speaking through walkie-talkie]: Ok, everyone, listen up! Our unsub is entering the building at 6:55 pm. I want everyone to keep their eyes open and be alert at all times.

Shows various spies dotted around the building, you can’t yet tell it’s a cinema.

Second Detective [through walkie-talkie]He’ll be entering through the main door, and his mission is to blend in. [pans to father and son] To blend into the crowd. He doesn’t want you to see him. Look for plain behaviour, boring, mundane actions. This man has an accomplice, and they are a master of disguise.

Main detective: I want everyone to stay in their positions and wait for my call. No one moves until I say so.

Everyone starts scanning the area, showing people blending in with other crowds, reading newspapers, sitting outside, some people are even hiding in vents.

Spy: [Whispers through walkie-talkie] Possible sighting. Entering Rear side door 3. North corridor.

Main detective: Let me take a look. [Zooms into CCTV, an average man walking calmly] That’s him. Remember to approach him with caution. Go! Now!

[All approach one guy] PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD [guy looks around, confused] Search him!

Spy: He’s got nothing on him, sir… He’s clean.

Main Detective: What do you mean clean?! What type of person comes to the cinema empty-handed? DAMMIT! We’ve lost him. We’ve lost our opportunity- He could be anywhere now; he’s slipped right through our fingers. DAMMIT. [slams fist into the wall]

Cuts to CCTV of screen 5, someone pulling a bag of Butterkist out of their jumper and quietly opening the bag.

[loud crunch of popcorn- the detectives look at CCTV and it zooms into screen 5 and the suspect looks at the camera and smirks before tucking in some more]

Butterkist. It's worth the risk.

TV 30' COMMERCIAL

Silent Opening.

Pitch black screen. Music is ominous.

You see a guy with his backpack, carefully packing it up.

He's rummaging around the house, through drawers. You can tell he’s in a rush. Filling the bag carefully with bandages, rope and a black jumper.

We see a map [It’s a mysterious blueprint]

He slips on black gloves. He slips the backpack under a dark, oversized coat and looks into the mirror. He nods and signifies that he’s ready.

He leaves the house [transitions to him entering a cinema].

He scans the cinema room suspiciously and heads towards a seat. He looks at a mysterious figure and tries to shimmy past, whilst doing so, you hear a loud pop and the mysterious figure jolts. The guy freezes.

He hurries to his seat. [The lights dim] and takes off his backpack.

Pulling out a bag of slightly opened Butterkist popcorn. Crunch.

Butterkist. It's worth the risk.
